Night Drive

I'm driving on. The darkness of the winding road invites me in. The lights go by. They seem in a rush...Go on, turn on the radio. I hope you remember me in a jazz song...Look at those lovers kissing. They look like us. Are we them?

The familiarity feels new. I wonder if this will last. But then nothing does....The sweet silence of the passing streets chills me. It's beautiful here. You're next to me. I don't want this night to end.

We've lost our way now. But we discover a new turn together. This will be 'our' gulley. Promise me when you're here again, you'll think of me.

You take the wheel now....while I get consumed by the night. The moon has shed its inhibitions ...perhaps in celebration of us.

On and on we go...So glad you hopped in for a ride.

We pause for a view. Sink it all in. We've fallen in love with the night. We fall in love tonight.

Drive on now. There's nowhere to go but the end. No rush.

(Maybe this will last? But then nothing does…)
